Under 11's co-operate in team bonding event
Our Under 11's enjoyed a recent social event courtesy of a grant donated by the Co-op foundation to the club.
The event was the brainchild of Under 11 parent Jacqui Hulse who made contact with the co-op for funding. The grant provided by the Co-op paid for over 35 children to attend for a fantastic afternoon out at Level entertainment centre in Preston.
The children firstly enjoyed running and playing around the obstacle course and this provided them with the opportunity to enjoy themselves, burn off some energy and bond with players from our other u11 teams. Following this, the children then enjoyed a meal with a drink and had great fun eating together, chatting, laughing and socialising.
The children finished off with a game of bowling each and they enjoyed the competitive side of this, cheering each other on and showing great sportsmanship.
These fun activities enabled the children to socialise away from modern technology, such a Xboxes and mobile phones and the children all left the event happy, contented and feeling good about themselves through the bonding/ laughing/ chatting with other children.
This is a particularly important time for these children as many of them, who have never met before, will be going to the same high schools and therefore by having this event the children feel more confident about going to high school and their emotional well being has improved. It will also develop them as players as the social aspect is recognised in the FA's four corner model.
None of this would have been possible without the support of the Co-op who also provided two members of their team, Sean and Liam, who were a great help and a credit to the Co-op. They were enthusiastic and helped to supervise the children throughout the afternoon as did many of the parent helpers.
